Data Loader supports three different ways to load the data into Oracle Enterprise Business Suite through Front End forms. The advantage of loading data from Front End is that any non technical user also can use it since it does not require any programming skills.
The three different methods are
1. HTML Forms Data Loader Record & Playback
2. Macro Loading
3. Forms Record & Playback
Use HTML Forms Data Loader
(A must for Oracle EBS Version R12, Oracle EBS Version R12.2.x and Oracle Fusion, since most of the forms in these versions are web based) |
Use Data Loader Macro Loading or Forms Record and Playback methods |
HTML Forms Data Loader is the latest and unique product for loading data into Oracle Web Based Forms. It's very simple to use and provides 100% reliable loads. It also does not require any setups or access to Oracle Application Server filesystem. It also doesn't require keystrokes or commands to load the data.
Simple to develop loads.
Does not require keystrokes or commands
100% reliable. Load stops if any error occurs
No need to have access to Oracle Application Server Filesystem
Doesn't require any setups or configuration in Oracle EBS
Most of the times doesn't require machine to be dedicated. Users can carry out their other works while HTML Forms Data Loader is loading data.

This method is the most popular and classic method to load the data into Oracle Forms. In this method Data Loader simulates keystrokes to load the data into Oracle Forms. The Oracle Apps behaves as though user has entered the data through keyboard.
The advantage of this method is it is easy to loads and it has become particularly more easy after the addition of Macro Recorder feature.
Since there is no way Data Loader can know the status of target application, many a times the loading goes haywire because of mismatch between the speed with which Data Loader sends the data and the time taken by the target application to process it. This can mostly be fine tuned by inserting time delays and adjusting the load speed. But 100% reliability is difficult.
Another disadvantage is that the user has to dedicate the machine while load is going on. User cannot do any other work while macro load is going on.

This method has several advantages over macro loading and it provides 100% reliable loads. But to use this method the user should have access to Oracle Application Server file system. This is quite difficult to obtain in corporate environments and often requires Oracle Application Admin intervention for downloading and uploading record and playback files.
Provides 100% reliable loads.
User does not have to dedicate the machine while loading is going on
Require access to Oracle Application Server File system.
